DuPont bakery blends meets clean label demands with one-size-fits-all strategy

DuPont Nutrition & Health is looking to meet the current demand for clean label products by offering bakeries its new Grindsted Freedom range of product blends to solve the challenges created by cleaner label strategies. The range, a combination of DuPont Danisco’s product portfolio and bakery experience, provides access to a breadth of ingredients like enzymes and emulsifiers while partnering with one supplier and one solution.

Nowadays, according to a DuPont press release, health-conscious consumers want cleaner, shorter labels with words they can pronounce and practical ingredients. It goes on to assert that it can be complicated for food manufacturers because what “clean” means in the marketplace hasn’t been clearly defined – and if a company offers a range of products, the potential solution for cleaner labels varies by product. The new DuPont range is designed to meet the demand for cleaner labels in the current absence of a one-size-fits-all strategy.

With Grindsted Freedom, DuPont aims to give food suppliers the freedom to create their own optimized blends that have been worked on from the widest possible range of potential formulations. DuPont Nutrition & Health’s products promise to provide customers with new and original product solutions and avoid providing repurposed ingredients that are simply called “clean label.”

“Once our customers share with us their challenges, cost expectations and ingredients acceptable for their clean label definition, we can begin working on a solution that meets their specific needs,” says Linda Dunning, DuPont’s regional product manager for System and Texturants. “A major benefit of DuPont Danisco Grindsted Freedom blends is the ability to optimize functionality by utilizing our extensive ingredient range of both internally and externally manufactured ingredients.”

With its creation of cleaner label strategies, DuPont Nutrition & Health has stated that its goal is to be able to help customers map each of the brands in their portfolios as well as elevate and communicate the impact of different trade-offs when they move from using legacy ingredients toward cleaner formulations.
