Nestlé Sets Sights on Italian Market

The Nestlé Group recently announced that it has reached an agreement with FRoSTA for the sale of the business branch that encompasses La Valle Degli Orti, Mare Fresco and Surgela brands. The decision is a step forward in Nestlé’s investment and development plan for the Italian Market.

Nestlé has identified the FRoSTA Group – frozen food company operating since 1963 and in Italy since 1989, 440 million euros turnover, 1,600 employees, facilities in 8 countries – as the ideal partner to acquire the business branch and continue development and promotion of the brands and related business activities.

The deal is part of the Nestlé development plan announced last December which will see the Benevento factory become “an international hub” focused exclusively on the production of Buitoni frozen pizzas. An overall investment of 48 million euros will allow a radical overhaul of the production lines, introducing cutting-edge technology, thus making the plant in Italy’s Campania region an example of production excellence capable of meeting both domestic and international demand.

No negative impact on employment is envisaged for the Benevento production facility. Actually it will witness a progressive increase in jobs with the advancement of the development plan, which includes a major increase in production capacity for frozen pizzas.
