Roha strengthens presence in Canada

Continuing to expand on its vision of staying true to local values, Roha is strengthening its presence in Canada by acquiring Cambrian Solutions Inc’s color business. This is the fourth acquisition for Roha this year. In January, Roha announced the acquisition of Italy based Essential SRL, a leading manufacturer of plant- and fruit-based natural coloring and flavoring ingredients. Later in the year, announced the acquisition of the color division from Delta Aromatics of Egypt and most recently, the company announced the acquisition of New Foods Industry S.p.A. near Verona in Italy, an expert in dry ingredients.&

Cambrian had been working successfully in Canada since 1997 to build the synthetic color business exclusively on behalf of Roha. This acquisition represents a further commitment on behalf of Roha into the Canadian market while also allowing Cambrian to refocus their efforts in other areas of the food and nutraceutical markets.

Roha had earlier set up a fully owned subsidiary in Canada in 2016.

Recognizing the uniqueness of consumer preference in Canada, Roha has made this commitment to ensuring customized quality products to answer local specific requirements.

Roha’s complete range of colors along with their expanding range of specialty ingredients will now be made available directly to our customers in Canada.

Rohit Tibrewala, CEO of Americas for Roha spoke “ROHA has been present in Canada for more than 15 years through Cambrian Solutions. So the market has always been important for Roha. However, we are now seeing an increased level of new product development and launches by Canadian companies, making it important for Roha to be present directly in the market.”

“We are making good progress in Canada and will continue to make investments as and when needed, including building a facility if business so warrants. We will also make further acquisitions in the market to consolidate and strengthen our position,” explains Tibrewala.

“Canada is a very dynamic market and consumer preferences are changing fast. To grow in Canada, we have to be in Canada. This acceleration is our commitment to Canada and its dynamic Food & Beverage, Consumer Health, and Personal Care industries. We will continue to make investments in Canada to further strengthen our presence there,” he says.

Speaking on the occasion, Mahesh Tibrewala, Managing Director of Roha, comments: “The acquisition of Cambrian's food color division will strengthen our position in North America and help us serve the customers better locally. This development brings us closer to fulfilling our goals set out for the FY 2017-18. This year will witness many more plans being unfurled thereby delighting the customers and employees both.”

This year has been a landmark year with expansion into various segments of the food ingredients category. Marked by an aggressive policy of external acquisition-driven growth, Roha has acquired a slew of global experts in the food ingredients sector including Delta Aromatics of Egypt and the colors division of Cambrian Solutions in Canada.

Roha’s years of market and product knowledge, allied to their capacity for innovation, help the company connect buyers with the right kind of suppliers anywhere on the globe. This joint expertise will ensure that the company can help suppliers expand their reach in that market.

The acquisition of the food colors business from Cambrian will help Roha bring focused products to their customers in the North American markets. It will also help Roha’s associate suppliers find a larger market share of the same market.
