Tate & Lyle doubles infant grade maltodextrin capacity at Slovak facility on rising demand

Tate & Lyle PLC is set to more than double capacity of its non-GMO MALTOSWEET maltodextrin product line at its facility in Boleraz, Slovakia, over the next two years to meet the increasing global demand. This major expansion of food grade and infant food grade non-GMO MALTOSWEET maltodextrin is expected to be completed in 2019.

MALTOSWEET Maltodextrin is a nutritive corn-based specialty sweetener made from locally sourced non-GMO dent and waxy corn starch. It is available in powder and granular formats. Maltodextrin acts as a binder, viscosity provider, fat replacer and bulking agent. The ingredient is used in a wide range of food and beverages such as infant formula, sports drinks, dairy desserts and sauces.

MALTOSWEET Maltodextrins and dried glucose syrups are well suited for use with a combination of other ingredients as they offer bulking properties. They are neutral products which are extremely stable and soluble, making them ideal for dry mix applications and dissolving in cold water.

Its reduced osmolality improves digestibility compared to lactose, dextrose and other mono and disaccharides. MALTOSWEET maltodextrins and dried glucose syrups are the ideal ingredients for use in sports and dietary products, providing a sustained energy release as the maltodextrins are metabolized in the body.
